Double Bubble Technology is a patented water aeration technology that combines the benefits of fine bubble and coarse bubble diffused aeration. By harnessing the advantages of both of these technologies, water in practically any application can be treated more efficiently and effectively.
See the Double Bubble Diagram and Breakdown below:

Coarse Bubbles = Large Bubbles
How do coarse bubbles aid in proper pond aeration? What do they do to improve the pond ecosystem?
- > Cause beneficial turbulence in the water column by displacing more water with each bubble that is released
- > Create more contact between decomposing bacteria and excess nutrients that cause pond algae growth and other water quality problems
-
> Initiate a drafting effect that pulls water and loose pond muck up from beneath the MARS Aerator and into the water column where it can be broken down, therefore decreasing muck buildup
Fine Bubbles = Small Bubbles
How do fine bubbles contribute to a healthy pond ecosystem? What do they do to create a sustainable pond environment?
- > Increase dissolved oxygen (DO) level of the pond, due to the collectively large surface area and low velocity of small bubbles
- > Provide pond atmosphere necessary for decomposing pond bacteria to break down algae-forming and water quality compromising nutrients
- > Secure a livable environment throughout the entirety of the water column by aerating from the bottom of the pond
By combining the benefits of these two water aeration technologies, Double Bubble Technology allows the MARS Aerator to be the most efficient and effective aeration technology currently available.
